5 Signs That You are Ovulating

What is Ovulation?

Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from the ovary and pushed down the fallopian tube to be made available for the sperm to be fertilized. Every month, an egg matures within one of the ovaries and as it reaches maturity, the egg is released by the ovary and makes its way towards the uterus. The lining of the uterus has thickened to prepare for the fertilized egg. If no conception occurs, the uterine lining, as well as blood, will be shed. The shedding of an unfertilized egg and the uterine wall is the time of menstruation.

Pregnancy is only possible if you have sex during the five days before ovulation or on the day of ovulation. Usually, the most fertile days are the three days leading up to and including ovulation.

Signs to Identify if you are Ovulating

Your body is a powerhouse that undergoes many changes as it gets ready to conceive during ovulation. Learning to read those physical signs can help you time the intercourse to perfection and increase your odds of conceiving successfully.

1) Increase in Basal Body Temperature

Basal body temperature is defined as your body temperature early in the morning when you are completely at rest. It is also one of the easily identifiable signs of ovulation since most women notice an increase in their basal temperatures right after ovulation. If you are already aware of approximate ovulation dates, you can easily start measuring your temperature using the basal body thermometer and pin-point the exact date when you ovulate.

2) Increase in Sexual Desire

The truth is that your body already knows exactly what you want and when you want it. At the time of ovulation, hormones elevate your mood and cause a sudden increase in sexual desire. If you know what signs you are looking for, you can catch this by yourself without needing any tool and prepare for a night out with your partner

3) Tenderness in Breast

Hormones in your body are almost always responsible for this. This is also a clear sign that you have already ovulated if you feel tenderness in the breast throughout the day. However, an important thing to note here is that fertility drugs can cause certain symptoms which can cause tenderness throwing this sign out of the window.

4) Ovulation Discharge

Another physical sign which can signal ovulation is your vaginal secretions or cervical mucus which you identify by checking regularly for mucus at the opening of the vagina. Soon after your menstrual cycle, you must already be noticing a sticky or vaginal secretion. Immediately prior to ovulation, most women usually detect increased vaginal secretions that are slippery in texture.

5) Ovulation Pain

Women usually experience a certain amount of cramps & mild pain when the egg is released from the ovary ( called mittelschmerz ). Usually, the pain is dull & lasts for few minutes to hours, and not always very noticeable in all cases but if you are carefully looking for the sign then you will be able to identify it.
