How To Keep Your Baby Safe Through Changing Weather
Cold and changing temperature can be tough on you baby’s tender body. Temperature rise and fall, with rollercoaster ride of heat and humidity at one part of the day and weather feeling cold and damp in the next moment, can leave babies cranky, sick with illness in more serious ways. Follow simple tips to keep your baby safe and prevent them from getting sick this winter.
Dress per the weather
Changing weather can hit really hard for those who are sensitive not only babies and toddler are affected in fact adults are equally exposed to viral and infections because of the changing temperature. Dressing up properly is the key safe ourselves in such kind of weather. Babies are more prone to getting affected easily because of their body is still not strong enough and their immunity is in developing phase. Dress your baby properly, specifically when you are planning to take them out, be it only for a small trip, or a couple of hours or even if you are planning to keep them inside the cars always. It is a best practice to dress your kid in layer so that you can easily remove some as and when required. If you feel your baby has started being cranky and showing some discomfort because of the overly heated or feeling cold, just add or remove layer accordingly.
Take care of the hygiene
Babies can easily catch infection by the bugs from an infected person around them. Sneezing and coughing are the easiest ways to catch infection because of mucus, that can pass from one person to other. Make your that the person coming in contact of your baby has washed his hands properly. If your baby is going to a day care, then ask the supervisor to discourage kids and adults who are sick to coming to center unless fully cured. Try to keep your baby away from the crowded place while changing temperature. Bring your own toys, books and other usable products, while going out, be it a doctor’s place, outdoor activities or day care.
Note that if you are breast feeding your kid then the antibodies in your breastmilk will help your baby healthy.
Follow bathing safety
It is easy to catch chill while having daily bath or massage. Keep temperature of the bedroom and bathroom same to avoid any sudden change in temperature. Temperature should be maintained average for the body and keep a heater in case its getting really cold. Make sure there is no gust of air or chill is coming in while you are massaging your baby and the doors are properly closed of the room you are giving the bathe or massage. Choose a time of the day when it’s not really cold and baby is comfortable and warm enough. Heat the room before undressing them. Their hair shouldn’t be left wet for a long time.
Breastfeed Regularly
Mother’s milk contains all the nutrients and antibodies that are needed by babies to keep their body healthy and safe from outside and inside bacteria and infection. Breast feed your baby regularly to make them strong and fit internally and make their body healthy to fight with bacteria and infection.
Up to date Immunization
Staying up to immunization can help build your baby’s immune system. Give them vaccine regularly as prescribed by the doctor. Stay up to date with vaccine in the initial few months really help their body to fight back with the bacteria.
