Tips for a better Tummy time

Tummy time is essential for a baby because of the advantages it offers around muscle development in the upper portion of the body and relief against the flat spots n the back f baby’s skull. Here in this article we will discuss few tips to make the tummy time more efficient and enjoyable fr the child.

Tips to Make Tummy Time More Enjoyable & Efficient

1) Get the Kid Moving

The main reason behind tummy time is to get the baby making some effort and lift their neck to give the muscles more workout. Sometimes babies don’t move around and make effort on their own so to get them going, place some toys just outside the reach of the baby forcing them to lift the neck and reach out to get hold of the toy.

2) Play with the Baby

Nothing gets the baby more excited and worked up then being with the mommy dearest. Next time while doing the tummy time, lie down with the baby and play around with them helping them move their hands and feet.

3) Talk to the Baby

Do you remember first time you went to the gym and how much did you hate it. A baby will probably have the same feeling towards tummy time initially because of the workout it involves. Whatever happens, don’t give up on it and instead make the activity more enjoyable for the kid by sitting in the direct eyeline of the baby and making them reach out to try and come to you. You can try to talk to the child as well in an excited voice which baby will pick up on rather quickly and forget about how much they hate the workout.

4) Use Towel for Help

Is your baby struggling a bit during tummy time to keep the neck up ? You can try to support the baby by placing a rolled up towel under their chest and place the hands on the floor/blanket. This will make the time little more comfortable till the baby gets used to lifting the body on its own.

5) Move the baby on their Side

If the baby is struggling to be on their belly, another alternate position you can try is by laying them on their side with a towel or pillow behind their back to provide support. Move them to the other side after every 5-10 minutes to prevent any stress on one side
