Rules to Follow during Workouts While You are pregnant

It is highly recommended to exercise during pregnancy. It lifts your spirit and helps you to prepare your body for labor. Read about basic rules of thumps to follow hard during exercise, that can keep you and your baby safe and healthy.

Always check with your doctor before starting any exercise routine.  In some cases, if you have any complications in your pregnancy, doctors recommend for complete rest. Exercising in such condition can be fatal for both baby and mother.

Exercise results in burning of calories, and your body needs some extra calories to nourish you and your body who is completely dependent on your body. Make sure you are nourishing yourself well and strengthen your body with good food alongside exercise. Also, your doctor will help in monitoring and maintain a check of your body weight you are not losing more calories and your weight gain is on track.

All pregnant women should avoid dangerous sports that involves too much rigorous activities. Such activities can lead to imbalance and cause a fall. Avoid racquet sports that requires rapid changes in direction and movements. Avoid surfing, outdoor cycling, horse-riding, scuba diving.

Dress yourself in proper workout clothes that are not tight enough. Also prefer layer that can help you quickly removing or two in overheating situations. Select correct shoes that are comfortable and not too tight in case you have developed any form of swelling, which is common during pregnancy.

Keep yourself hydrated, Reduced amount of water in your body can result in dehydration which can lead to reduced blood reaching your placenta. Overheating due to dehydration can also trigger contractions.

Don’t exercise in heat temperature or humidity. Avoid hot Pilates, lounging in saunas or hot tubs, which can raise your core temperature to an unsafe level.

Take extra caution while getting up from the floor, you shouldn’t get up quickly which firstly can result in imbalance and secondly it can make your dizzy, how results in chain of events like low blood pressure, and faint.

You should avoid standing in one place for prolonged period when lifting weights or doing yoga. This can lead to reduced blood flow to heart and uterus, which can lead to low blood pressure. So keep switching position else keep walking.

Don’t exercise too much to make yourself completely exhausted, Take regular breaks. And after exercise try to rest and equivalent amount of time you spent on exercising. At the end of your workout, do some light stretches, will helps your body to cool down and catch up a regular heart rate.
